Billionaire Business mogul and President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Hassan Adebayo Sunmonu will be conferred with honorary doctorate degrees by the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) at its 41st convocation ceremony scheduled to hold on the 27th of April 2019.
They will be recognized for their immense contribution to the overall development of Nigeria and humanity in general.
Dangote will be conferred with honorary Doctor of Letters while Comrade Sunmonu is to be honoured with honorary Doctor of Science.
During the convocation event, Dangote will commission ten blocks of students consisting of 360 rooms at site 2 of the university. The blocks of student hostels were constructed and donated by Dangote to alleviate shortage of student accommodation in the university.
Also on Tuesday, according to the itinerary, there would be a town and gown meeting where management staff as well as leaders and elders of the neighboring communities would discuss issues of mutual interest.
The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu is expected to commission a number of projects all over the university on Friday, April 26.
The Friday activities will be rounded off with a convocation lecture by former President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede which will be themed; “It’s all about the Human Capital”, and to be chaired by the Executive Secretary of the National University Commission (NUC), Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed.
