The Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) Teaching Hospital has recorded a major breakthrough by successfully conducting the fastest open heart surgery in the history of Nigeria.
The medical team of the teaching hospital noted that the surgeries were done in a speed that had never been done before in Nigeria and in line with the best global practices.
Speaking with pressmen at the weekend at the ceremony to celebrate the breakthrough, the United States of America based cardiologists led by Prof. Tayo Adeleke and Paul Davies, attributed the success to the dexterity of the medical personnel in ABUTH and quality of equipment in the hospital.
Two survivors of the operation, Tayo Akomolafe and Dr. Bukola Balogun, expressed happiness over the free health services they enjoyed at the hospital.
Prof. Tayo Adeleke has urged the FG to ensure that state of the arts equipments are also provided in public hospitals in Nigeria in order to compliment the service being tendered by ABUAD.
