The Executive Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, has urged the leadership of the Imo State University Alumni Association to always speak trith to power and to engage the Government at all times.
The Governor gave the charge when the members of the association paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Owerri.
He noted that the group as an elite association should be bold enough to speak truth to power when the need arises, adding that the welfare of the students of the institution whom they left behind should be of greater interest.
The Governor, who made known that constructive criticism will help his government in the right path stated that freedom of speech is a fundamental human right of Nigerians.
In his speech, the President of the Alumni association, Prince Ezeala Akano, stated that the visit to the Governor was to invite him to their annual global convention which will hold at Imo State University, and to also congratulate him on his overwhelming victory at the 2019 elections.
He described the massive support which the Ihedioha administration has enjoyed from the masses as a testimony to the governor’s acceptability, expressing the readiness of the association to partner with the Government in the actualization of the Rebuild Imo Vision.
