BSU Shut Down Over Protest By Students

The Benue State University (BSU) has been shutdown following a protest by the students of the institution over introduction of 4 points Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) grading system.

According to reports, the university students, in the early hour of Tuesday, had besieged the gates of the university preventing the movement of people and vehicles from going and coming out of the school campus.

The action of the students had left staff and students who came for their usual morning duties stranded.

Some of the university students who spoke with newsmen stated that the peaceful protest became necessary following the University management’s refusal to revert to the 5 point CPGA grading system as directed by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

“Most of the universities have adhered to the NUC’s directive and reverted to the 5 points grading GPA. BSU and a few other universities have remained adamant, even after several negotiations between management and students leaders,” one of the students explained.
