The Federal Government has directed the West African Examination Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO), National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB), and other examination bodies to rid their processes of examination malpractices.
The FG specifically suggested that they should understudy measures used by the Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), to minimize exam malpractices and restore the credibility of the examination system.
The Minister of Education, Mallam, Adamu Adamu, gave the direction over the weekend during the unveiling of the remolded head office of JAMB in Abuja.
The Minister who was represented by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, said the government will continue to assist it to fight examination fraud in the country.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, in his remarks, thanked the federal government for the support received so far, adding that he would continue to support any cause that would strengthen the integrity and credibility of the examination system.
Dr. Emmanuel Ndukwue, Chairman, Governing Board of JAMB, in his remarks confirmed that Oloyede’s appointment heralded a great transformation in the examination board.
