The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has urged candidates to report institutions that charge more than the appropriate amount of two thousand naira for the coming post UTME exercise. The board has urged candidates to either report any institution found wanting to JAMB or the Ministry of Education.
JAMB on its twitter page stated that any University or Polytechnic charging more than two thousand naira is engaging in illegality. It is recalled that the federal government had warned all tertiary institutions against charging more two thousand naira for post UTME.
Alhaji Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education gave the warning at the JAMB policy meeting stating that, “At the 2017 policy meeting, I endorsed that any institution which was interested in conducting any form of Post-UTME screening could do so but that the gross charge for the screening should not be more than N2000.
“Once again, let me caution heads of tertiary institutions that it would not be tolerated for any institution to charge any fee beyond the approved two thousand naira.
“Firmer sanctions than those of last session shall be applied to cases of violation,”
According to Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB registrar, the post UTME exercise commences from July and ends in December 2018.
