Three graduates of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State, have been confirmed dead by the management of the institution.
The three graduates died in a fatal accident while on their way to Katsina state to participate in the mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.
The accident occurred at Mokwa, Niger State, during the week when an articulated vehicle ran over an eighteen-passenger Toyota bus in which the victims were traveling in.
According to an eyewitness, the bus made a stopover at Mokwa for the passengers to eat, after which they continued their journey.
“The bus was about to link the Jebba/Mokwa expressway when an oncoming articulated vehicle ran over it and killed all the passengers except the driver,” the eyewitness stated.
The institution’s spokesperson, Mr. Olayinka Iroye, confirming the incident, made it known that two of the graduates hailed from Iwo in Osun State, but couldn’t identify the third victim, adding that their parents had been notified of the sad occurrence.
