The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has commenced its 2018/2019 academic activities on Monday, March 4, 2019 despite the election postponement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
However, the university management, in a press release signed by the director of Information and Public Relations/Chief Protocol Officer, Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, last week restated that the institution’s resumption date remained March 4, 2019.
“This is to inform all students, lecturers, staff, parents, guardians and the general public that academic activities for the 2018/2019 first semester would commence on Monday, 4th March, 2019 as scheduled in the revised 2018/2019 academic calendar.
“Students are by this announcement advised to be in school from Monday as lectures will commence immediately,” the statement reads.
Reports revealed that the university hostels opened last Friday, as students returned to school after the more than three months industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
