The authority of Bingham University in Nasarawa state has called on the newly matriculated students of the institution to do away from drugs, shun cultism, examination malpractices and other negative vices.
The students were warned that such vices would not be tolerated by the management.
Bingham University matriculated five hundred and ninety-one students into the College of Medicine and Health Sciences and five other faculties for the 2018/2019 academic session.
The Acting Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Barnabas Quirix, gave out the warning at the 14th matriculation ceremony which took place at the university chapel on Saturday.
Quirix maintained that the university had zero tolerance for examination malpractice and secret cult activities, threatening that students caught in such acts would be arrested and prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.
“I urge you to shun drug abuse, smoking, alcoholism, cultism and misuse of social media,” the Acting VC stated.
Quirix said the vision of the university was to give the students all the support they needed to enable them to excel. He added that the institution had the capacity to overcome all the challenges and made the students to succeed in their various disciplines.
He stressed that the university had put in place the mechanism to help the students achieve very high moral and educational standards.
