The Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Prof. Na’Allah Abdulrasheed, has stated that the major problem affecting the university has been inadequate funding.

The VC, in his address during the 7TH Convocation Anniversary ceremony of the institution over the weekend, explained that “for five years, the university has not received subvention from the government; not towards salaries, not towards overhead and not towards anythind.”

According to Na’Allah, the university has been surviving on internally-generated revenue (IGR) adding that KWASU has established a foundation with contributions from philanthropists.

Dr. Wale Babalakin, the chairman of the occasion, said Nigeria must restructure its university and secondary school education system to turn out employable graduates and regain the respect of world community.
