The Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH) Okitipupa in Ondo state has been shut down for security reasons by the management of the institution.
This is coming barely two days after Adekunle Ajasin University Akoko (AAUA) was shut down.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the the state owned institution was shut down over the weekend due to threat to protest for the hike in school fees.
In a memo signed by the Registrar of the university, Felix Akinnusi stated that the resumption date for the students have been shifted till further notice.
The Registrar stated that the decision to postpone the resumption was reached at the 31st regular meeting of the institution’s Senate.
“This is to inform all students and the entire University Community that Senate at its 31st regular meeting directed that the resumption of students from the mid-semester break earlier fixed for Monday 20th May, 2019 be further postponed.
“A new resumption date will be announced later.
“On behalf of the ice Chancellor, Senate and management of the university, I wish all students a happy mid-semester break,” the memo read.
According to NAN, last month, the university had directed the students to immediately vacate the campus for a mid-semester break following the students’ demonstration which disrupted academic activities and economic activities as well.
