West Africa’s leading senior school examinations body, WAEC (The West African Examinations Council) has revealed a plan to add another examinations to the 2 examination the body is currently conducting by 2018. WAEC is known to conduct one examination students still in school, the Senior Secondary School Certificate examination; the body also conducts another examination for candidates who are not enrolled in public school, this is popularly called the GCE.
Dr. Iyi Uwadiae who is the Registrar of WAEC said at a press briefing yesterday that the council would adding a fresh examination for its private candidates, he also revealed that the plan examination might take off in Nigeria next year.
According to Uwadiae, “With growing concern among the stakeholders over what they perceive as discrimination or denial of equal opportunity against private candidates, there has been a wave of agitation, criticism and appeal across the sub-region for the Council to find a way of ameliorating the agony of long waiting experienced by the private candidates who desire another attempt at WASSCE. This situation is often cited as being responsible for the level of desperation sometimes exhibited by the perpetrators of malpractice at the private candidate’s examination centers.
He continued: “Council, after painstakingly considering all ramifications of the matter, has finally given approval for the National Offices to commence the conduct of one additional diet each year of WASSCE for private candidates. I must be quick to point out that though Council has given the nod, the conduct of the additional diet may not take off in all member countries immediately or at the same time.
Please prepare to register for this fresh examination by WAEC, NECO too might be planning something and if you’re successful, you write JAMB and get admission into the university
